Hanoi – The northern province of Bac Giang will focus on the study and completion of regulations on cultural values and human standards in the era of industrialisation, modernisation and international integration as part of its efforts to promote comprehensive human development.
According to Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son, due attention will be given to standards on personality, ethics, lifestyle, and sense of respect for the laws.
Bac Giang will work to ensure basic human rights and interests regarding poverty alleviation, improvement of living quality, food security and social welfare, promote comprehensive education quality and life-long learning.
The province plans to pay due regard to the gender equality standards as well as women's and girls’ empowerment, he said, adding it will assure labour safety, encourage sustainable and effective economic growth, and generate stable and high-income jobs for all.
In the coming time, the locality will accelerate the integration of cultural, educational, medical, art and scientific activities into building local people, while joining hands with families and schools to develop young generations with aspirations to build the homeland.
Seeing improvement of the local people's physical well-being and stature a focus, the province will continue carrying out the “all people do exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho” campaign, and prioritise international cooperation in training athletes and coaches in high-achievement sports.
Son stressed that Bac Giang has determined to rectify all activities that take advantage of a religion or belief to spread mystical ideas and superstition causing social disorder, and repel the backwardness that may affect local customs and traditions.
Furthermore, the province will maintain effective implementation of the programmes to honour outstanding intellectuals and excellent local citizens.Over the past years, Bac Giang has aligned several standards into village conventions and the regulations of local organisations.
The emulation campaign “building friendly schools and active students” has received enthusiastic response from local students.Better healthcare services have been given to local people, Son said, adding the province achieved a ratio of 31.8 hospital beds per 10,000 people and 12.2 doctors per 10,000 people, and health insurance coverage of 99.2 per cent in 2023.
Every year, nearly 30,000 jobs were created for local people, making contributions to promoting the employment structure shift, increasing incomes for local residents, alleviating poverty, and ensuring social welfare.
Bac Giang continued to lead the nation in economic growth in the first quarter of 2024, with an estimated expansion of 14.18 per cent.All production sectors showed robust growth, including agro-forestry-fisheries up 2.14 per cent, industry-construction 18 per cent, services 6.32 per cent and product taxes 4.48 per cent.
The province now boasts 10 industrial parks with a total planned area of over 2,250ha.As of March 15, it had drawn nearly 624.26 million USD in registered investment capital.
There were 310 newly-established enterprises, marking an 18 per cent increase, with combined registered capital of nearly 2.6 trillion VND (over 108 million USD).In March, its industrial production index went up 20.6 per cent month-on-month and 16.7 per cent year-on-year, pushing up the three-month figure to 23.89 per cent.
The sustained production expansion and stable operation of several large enterprises, particularly since the latter part of the third quarter of 2023, were credited for these achievements.
Looking toward the second quarter, the province plans to proactively attract foreign investment, particularly high-quality sources with advanced technologies.
This will involve preparing the necessary infrastructure, developing a skilled workforce, and ensuring land availability.The province also aims to enhance the effectiveness of trade promotion activities, particularly for its key agricultural products such as lychee.
To promote domestic brands, Bac Giang will host a "National Brand Week" in conjunction with the "Vietnamese Brand Day" on April 20 while upgrading agricultural production processes to meet VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and high organic standards.
