KinderWorld International Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for Singapore International School in Le Chan district in the northern port city of Haiphong on April 5.
The ceremony was attended by Le Tien Chau, Secretary of Haiphong Party Committee; Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee; Le Anh Quan, Standing Vice Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee; Ian Tan, charge d’affaires of Singaporean Embassy in Vietnam, and leaders from several local relevant management agencies and departments.
This event marked the 16th Singapore International School and KinderWorld’s entry into the third-largest city in Vietnam.
Situated on a little over three hectares, Singapore International School @ Le Chan, Haiphong (SIS @ Le Chan) will be constructed in two phases.
The school's first phase will comprise a classroom block and world-class school facilities including the multipurpose sports hall, swimming pool, football field, and auditorium.
The school is scheduled to commence operations in August. With the completion of additional classrooms and complementary facilities in the second phase, SIS @ Le Chan will be one of KinderWorld’s largest campuses in Vietnam, providing through-train education for a capacity of 1,500 students from preschool to high school level.
"Today marks a significant milestone for our company, with the groundbreaking of Singapore International School in Le Chan, Haiphong. We believe that this campus, with world-class school facilities and internationally recognised curriculum, will contribute towards the future growth of this vibrant city," said Ricky Tan, chairman of KinderWorld International Group.
"We appreciate the tremendous support from the leaders of Haiphong and Le Chan district. Going forward, KinderWorld remains steadfast in our investment commitment in Vietnam, thereby contributes towards the country’s long-term development," added Tan.
According to Nam, to meet the city’s long-term goals, Haiphong has strived to create favourable conditions for companies to invest in high-quality, international-standard schools, offering multi-level education throughout the city.
"Singapore International School is the first school following the K-12 model (from kindergarten to 12th grade) in Haiphong. Once completed, the school will meet the educational needs for children of foreign experts, foreign investors, and workers residing and working in the city, as well as the demand for high-quality education from students and parents in the city and neighbouring areas."
“This project has received special attention and guidance from Chau, with all investment procedures being completed in the shortest possible time,” said Nam.
KinderWorld started its first school in Vietnam in 2000 and has had a 24-year track record of offering internationally recognised programmes through its Singapore International School campuses.
Proposed design of Singapore International School @ Le Chan, HaiphongStudents have the option of studying the international programme, which closely follows the Singapore and Cambridge standards, or the integrated programmes, which combines subjects from the Ministry of Education and Training with a range of international subjects and soft-skills training.
SIS @ Le Chan is the first development of KinderWorld’s vision to develop international school campuses, together with a comprehensive vocational training centre, and an outdoor education and ecotourism site in the city.
KinderWorld is currently the largest owner-operator of foreign-invested international schools in Vietnam, offering educational programmes from preschool to high school and university foundation.
As part of its holistic approach to education, KinderWorld also operates higher education entities, namely SISH Institute (Singapore) and Pegasus International College (Vietnam). It also partners with Outward Bound Vietnam, for outdoor experiential learning programmes.
