Dak Lak province is gearing up to host the ninth Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2025 under the theme “Buon Ma Thuot – The Destination of World Coffee”.

Scheduled to take place from March 9 to 13 in Buon Ma Thuot city and various locations across the province, the festival aims to strengthen Vietnam's position on the global coffee map.

The event was officially announced at a press conference on February 12 in Hanoi, organised by Dak Lak People's Committee. The briefing brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Vietnam Coffee – Cocoa Association, government officials from Dak Lak and Hanoi, the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Association, corporate sponsors, and official festival ambassadors.

Nguyen Tuan Ha, Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee and head of the Organising Committee, highlighted the festival’s significance in his opening remarks. He emphasised that the ninth edition will not only commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Buon Ma Thuot Victory and the liberation of Dak Lak (March 1975 to March 2025), but also celebrate the broader Spring 1975 General Offensive that led to Vietnam’s reunification.

Beyond honouring the province’s deep-rooted coffee heritage, the festival serves as a strategic platform to elevate Vietnam’s coffee industry, stimulate economic growth, and attract both investment and tourism. It also pays tribute to the dedication of coffee farmers, processors, and entrepreneurs while spotlighting the province’s vast agricultural and tourism potential.

“By collaborating with central ministries, national agencies, and other provinces in the central highlands, Dak Lak is committed to making the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2025 a premier trade promotion,” said Ha. “This festival will not only enhance the global reputation of Vietnamese coffee but also create valuable opportunities for businesses to showcase their products, expand market reach, and secure investment. Our ultimate goal is to harness internal strengths, deepen international partnerships, and mobilise external resources for sustainable, high-impact economic development.”

Lai Duc Dai, deputy director of Dak Lak Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, outlined the festival’s diverse line up of events, which will span more than 10 major activities alongside the grand opening and closing ceremonies. Visitors can expect a dynamic coffee industry and OCOP exhibition, highlighting cutting-edge innovations in coffee production and speciality products. A coffee roasting competition will showcase the expertise of top roasters, while a international business networking conference will provide a strategic forum for market expansion and global partnerships.

A host of cultural and sporting events will further enrich the experience. “The farmers' competition will spotlight the ingenuity of coffee growers, while a light festival promises an immersive cultural spectacle. The coffee camp festival will offer an interactive celebration of coffee culture, and visitors will also enjoy free coffee tastings at cafés across the province, providing an authentic taste of Buon Ma Thuot’s renowned coffee,” Dai shared. “Other standout attractions include “a dugout canoe race in Lak district and the elephant festival, a tribute to the region’s storied elephant-riding traditions.”

With extensive preparations already underway, Dak Lak is poised to deliver a world-class festival that will captivate visitors, boost the global appeal of Vietnamese coffee, and position the province as a leading destination for coffee enthusiasts and investors alike. “Dak Lak is fully ready to ensure the festival’s success, showcasing the province’s unique coffee culture, its people, and its vast economic potential to the world,” Dai concluded.
