Nestlé Vietnam signed an MoU with the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, to implement initiatives to train, develop, and connect students on May 24.

Nestlé Vietnam ties up with VNU-HCM to implement three-house model

VNU-HCM held a ceremony to launch the programme “Resolution 57: From vision to implementation of the state-school-enterprise cooperation model" in Ho Chi Minh City. The programme aims to implement Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation while linking with Resolution 68-NQ/TW on private sector development based on the "three-house" cooperation model.

Addressing the ceremony, Binu Jacob, CEO of Nestlé Vietnam, said, “Nestlé has pursued initiatives similar to a three-house model for decades. We believe in the concept of creating shared value to bring benefits to all stakeholders, including schools, farmers, enterprises, and society. Nestlé Vietnam is committed to accompanying the government in the three-house model.”

“Nestlé believes in the power of youth, innovation, and digital transformation. It is the reason Nestlé established the "Nestlé Needs YOUth" programme 12 years ago – an initiative to improve skills for young employees to join the dynamic world on a global scale. Over the past year, Nestlé has reached 25,000 young Vietnamese people through training, exchange, and coaching to improve their leadership skills,” Jacob said.

Many students who join the "Nestlé Needs YOUth" initiative come from VNU-HCM, especially the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, International University, and University of Economics and Law.

“When state, school, and enterprise join forces for a shared vision, we can create a long-lasting impact, changing the lives of people, the community, and the planet. This will help Vietnam become a developed nation by 2045,” Jacob stated.

The two sides will implement initiatives to train, develop, and connect young talent and equip students with essential skills to quickly adapt to the modern environment. In addition, VNU-HCM’s students will have the chance to join Nestlé's recruitment, training, and development initiatives for young talents, expanding career opportunities, unlocking potential capabilities, and creating a solid foundation for their future career paths.

Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Economic Commission, said, “VNU-HCM has launched the three-house model. This, coupled with the active involvement of the business community, local authorities, and scientists, will bring Resolution 57 to life.

“Agencies should make bold moves to reduce 50 per cent of time, conditions, and procedures in the areas linked with the three houses. Meanwhile, enterprises and entrepreneurs are expected to play an active role in the three-house model.

Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, said, “The implementation of the three-house model is a crucial move to implement the goals of Resolution 57. Among them, the state plays a role in creating institutions, coordinating strategies, and removing difficulties. Schools, typically VNU-HCM, take on the role of human resource training, research, and technology transfer. Enterprises are in charge of commercialising research results to meet practical needs.”

Vu Hai Quan, director of VNU-HCM, said that the three-house model is a strategic triangle – the core of the country's innovation ecosystem. Among them, the state plays a role in creating and establishing institutional frameworks, leading investment, ensuring fairness, and fostering risk-taking incentives to encourage innovation. Enterprises play a key role in commercialising research products, putting innovation into practice, and spreading value to the market. When this strategic triangle operates effectively, the country will have the opportunity to escape the middle-income trap and rise strongly.”
