This is the 11th year it has released this list in the country. The rankings are based on last year’s audited consolidated financial reports of the companies listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange and the Hanoi Stock Exchange.

Forbes Vietnam said total after-tax profit of the 50 firms stood at over VND228 trillion ($9.7 billion) while their combined revenue VND1.49 quadrillion ($64.8 billion), respectively rising 18 per cent and 24.9 per cent from the 2022 list. In 2022, profits of listed companies in general and those in the top 50 hit a record level.

Of these, 2022 is a year when SABECO recorded a record profit after tax since its establishment in 1975. The company recorded a nearly 33 per cent increase in net revenue and a 40 per cent increase in net profit compared to 2021, despite the impact of the pandemic as well as fluctuations in the domestic market.

On the journey of 148 years of development, an important milestone for SABECO occurred in 2017 when the Ministry of Industry and Trade divested 53.59 per cent of Sabeco shares to Vietnam Beverage Co., Ltd (a subsidiary of ThaiBev).

Since then, SABECO's major shareholder structure has not changed with the two largest shareholders, Vietnam Beverage at 53.59 per cent and the State Capital and Investment Corporation at 36 per cent.

The total annual production capacity at SABECO's 26 factories is about 2.5 billion litres. This year, the company plans to exceed VND40 trillion ($1.7 billion) in net revenue, up 15 per cent, and VND5.78 trillion ($251 million) in after-tax profit, up 5 per cent on-year.

Additionally, the company will buy the ownership of expenses at the SaiGon Binh Tay Beer Group JSC and raise the ownership rate there to 70 per cent.

The Forbes top 50 listed companies are divided into sectors, and most are leading firms or those already gaining a foothold in their sectors.
