Vietnam Airlines launches new aircraft maintenance and technical management programme.
On December 6, Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO), a member unit of Vietnam Airlines Corporation, announced signing a cooperation agreement with Swiss-AS-NGS Consortium, a leading provider in MRO IT, and NGS Equipment and Communication JSC.
Accordingly, they will cooperate in deploying aircraft maintenance software based on advanced technology. This agreement marks the increased pace for Vietnam Airlines on the path to digitalisation.
Nguyen Chien Thang, deputy general director of Vietnam Airlines, said, "The new software will make an important contribution to helping VAECO become a leading aircraft maintenance service provider in the region, meanwhile promoting digital transformation and information technology application in Vietnam Airlines' production and business activities. Thereby ensuring a solid technical foundation for Vietnam Airlines' 4-star, now approaching 5-star, standard flight services."
The signing ceremonyAMOS, a new software system implemented by Swiss-AS-NGS Consortium, will provide technical management tools to strictly and closely manage the maintenance programme and more efficient data synchronisation. The software is expected to contribute to reducing costs and maintenance time and improving the operational readiness factor for the fleet.
The software will also provide convenient tools for planning, controlling maintenance processes, managing human resources to optimise production processes, and minimising labour costs for recording, data entry, and work control, thereby increasing productivity.
AMOS software provides synchronous information about overall system failure, maintenance history, spare parts, and supplies status, enabling technical staff to make effective and timely repair decisions, minimising flight stops, delays, and cancellations.
Once the implementation of AMOS has been completed, VAECO's labour productivity is forecast to increase by 15-20 per cent. Besides that, the maintenance time of aircraft will be shortened, and favourable conditions for VAECO’s human resources will have been created to expand the third-party work, which is currently in great demand because the airline industry has returned to strong exploitation after the pandemic.
VAECO's labour productivity will increase by 15-20 per cent thanks to applying the new softwareVietnam Airlines owns the largest fleet in Vietnam, with more than 100 aircraft, including Boeing 787, Airbus A350, A321, A321neo, and ATR72. The airline continues to modernise its fleet, improve its aircraft maintenance capacity, and catch up with new technologies.
Vietnam Airlines also plans to reopen some routes between Vietnam and China to serve travel demand in the context of China easing its air policies relating to the pandemic. According to Vietnam Airlines' plans, in the first phase, three routes to China will be resumed, including the HCMC-Guangzhou route, departing every Friday from December 9; the Hanoi-Shanghai route with a frequency of two flights per week, every Monday and Friday from December 12; and the HCMC-Shanghai route, departing every Wednesday from December 14.
