The two projects are part of component project No.4 of the aviation service area of Long Thanh Airport. The airline meal supply side is being implemented by Vietnam Air Catering Services Company (VACS), a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines, with an initial capacity of 20,000 meals per day, which can be increased to 40,000 meals. In addition to serving the national airline, VACS aims to provide services for domestic and international airlines at Long Thanh International Airport.

The aircraft maintenance project is implemented by Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO) across an area of more than 45,000 square metres, with an investment of over VND1.1 trillion ($44 million). This complex can simultaneously maintain two wide-body aircraft and two narrow-body aircraft. The maintenance capacity is at least 250,000 million hours per year, expected to serve 120-150 aircraft maintenance trips per year.

Another member unit of Vietnam Airlines, Vietnam Ground Services Company (VIAGS), launched a ground equipment maintenance project at Long Thanh on May 25.

Vietnam Airlines currently operates an aviation service ecosystem with centres in Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Danang, and soon Long Thanh airports. VACS provides about 10 million meals per year for more than 58 airlines. VAECO has a nationwide technical network, meeting US and European standards, aiming to become the leading aircraft maintenance and repair centre in the region.

Long Thanh is built over 5,000 hectares, with a total estimated investment of about VND336.6 trillion ($13.5 billion). In the first phase, a runway, passenger terminal, and ancillary items, with a capacity of 25 million passengers per year will be built, with completion expected in 2026.
