Water management and packaging are both important chains in the circular economy and the main industries present at VietWater and ProPak Vietnam from November 9 to 11 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre.
BT Tee, general director of the organiser Informa Markets Vietnam said, "The co-location of the two exhibitions is to achieve the sustainability of the processing and packaging industry, which is led by sustainable water management. Focusing on water management should always be the top priority for all businesses to balance profits and sustainable development goals, especially the goal to ensure clean water and sanitation for all by 2030 in Vietnam.”
According to him, Vietnam is now confronted by a host of water challenges that jeopardise the economy and environment, while climate change and deteriorating water infrastructure also aggravate the situation.
“Rapid industrialisation and urbanisation comprise great pressure on the country's water resources, as only 13 per cent of urban wastewater and 70 per cent of new industrial wastewater is treated before discharge”, he added. “Let's embrace the challenges of the new circular economy means to emphasise on people and planet before profit."

This number is projected to grow to $3.11 billion by 2027 at an average annual growth rate of 7.5 per cent," said Nguyen Ngoc Minh Thy, vice chairman of the Vietnam Packaging Association.
According to him, the packaging industry is also driven by economic growth and increasing consumer demand for lightweight, convenient, and easy-to-carry packaging. However, around 70 per cent of ingredients are imported, mainly from China and the EU.
