According to the New Insight of Wind Power newswire in China, a serious accident occurred in the first week of November at the 600MW wind power project in Barkol Kazakh autonomous county - a part of Hami Prefecture in Xinjiang.
A wind turbine tower reportedly collapsed as it was being hoisted as part of the tower's installation. A total of five workers were working at the tower, with one person outside and four people inside.
One person is dead, one has been injured, and three people were rescued unharmed. The National Energy Bureau Xinjiang Supervision Office has issued an accident notice, and regional projects have been suspended. The bidding for this project was opened in May 2023, and Windey Energy won this project with 84 units of 7.X MW turbines.
The National Energy Bureau Xinjiang Supervision Office said that the accident was serious, and the consequences have been grave. The turbine suppliers, Windey Energy Technology Group Co., Ltd, did not allegedly fulfill their legal responsibilities to comply with regulations for the safety of those involved.
Windey Energy Technology Group is a large state-owned listed enterprise in Zhejiang province, China. The group has already established a subsidiary named Hanoi Windey Operation and Maintenance Co., Ltd in Vietnam.
In Vietnam, Windey Energy Technology Group is supplying turbines for the 50MW onshore wind power project Tan Tan Nhat - Dak Glei in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum, which has been recently fined about VND800 million ($33,700) for occupying agricultural and forest production land, and VND170 million ($7,200) for administrative violations.
Additionally, Windey Energy Technology Group also provides turbines for Ia Pech and Ia Pech 2 wind power plants in Ia Grai district, Gia Lai province with a total capacity of 100MW, and 50MW Win Energy Chinh Thang in Ninh Thuan province.
