Visa, the world’s leader in digital payments, and the CCVSA on August 23 celebrated 10 years of partnership with the financial literacy programme.

Visa, the world’s leader in digital payments, and the Central Committee of Vietnam Students’ Association (CCVSA) on August 23 celebrated 10 years of partnership with the financial literacy programme.

Under the slogan, The Finan-tastic Duo, students will partner up with small and medium-sized businesses (SME) in this year’s programme as an opportunity to apply financial skills and support businesses seeking new growth opportunities.

The programme aims to give students the opportunity to try the financial knowledge learned from Visa’s award-winning Practical Money Skills programme and enhance SMEs to the next level by applying expert business tips and resources empowered by Visa’s Practical Business Skills platform.

At the same time, it will provide SMEs with fresh perspectives from the next generation, supporting them in recovering from the pandemic.

“The Central Committee of the Vietnam Students’ Association highly appreciates Visa's support and companionship for the financial literacy programme over the past 10 years and hopes that it will continue to develop more financial education for students nationwide,” said Nguyen Minh Triet, secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union and president of CCVSA.

“Starting with equipping students with personal financial management skills, over the years, the programme has gradually developed and collected the information, knowledge, and skills to meet students' financial needs to start a business.”

Dang Tuyet Dung, Visa’s country manager of Vietnam and Laos shared, “Students habitually use technology at a level many entrepreneurs from older generations would call wizardry. At the same time, they stand to gain a lot from learning proper financial management and entrepreneurship.

“It is our ambition to combine the best of the two worlds and show the difference conscious money management and cost-effective digitalisation can make. As the leader in providing financial knowledge through educational initiatives, we aim to encourage people with financial and digital skills. Visa is overjoyed to have reached this milestone with the CCVSA in our flagship educational programme," she said.

Unsecured loans from financial companies are becoming a popular consumer finance product in Vietnam, thanks to their simple procedures and rapid disbursement time.

Under this year's programme, students will partner up with small and medium-sized businesses as an opportunity to apply financial skills and support businesses seeking new growth opportunities.

The programme takes place from August 23 to November 19 and consists of three rounds, with the final night planned to take place on November 19.

The winner of the programme will be rewarded with a prize of VND45 million ($1,950), while the first runner-up will take home VND25 million ($1,080), and the second runner-up will be awarded VND15 million ($650). Teams will receive a certificate of the programme and a certificate of merit from the CCVSA.

Even the three competing teams who did not make it through the second round will be awarded VND6 million ($260) each.

In addition, the programme offers three special prizes of VND5 million ($215) for the province or city with the highest number of entries (min. 50 entries), and three prizes of VND5 million ($215) are offered to the university with the highest number of entries (min. 20 entries).
