AND PORTAL
In December Unilever Vietnam was awarded the Human Act Prize in the Sustainable Project category for pioneering a carbon-neutral journey in its operations, concluding a memorable year of positive contributions to the community.

The initiative successfully met the criteria of improving production processes, integrating green technology, and establishing an environmental impact measurement system. Thanks to that, the company has eliminated almost 9,700 tonnes of CO2 per year since 2007, reduced 511kg of SOx gas by using biomass fuel per year, and eliminated cardboard waste for packaging transportation from Dynaplast.
Unilever has also implemented and realised a circular economy model in managing waste, such as plastic waste, damaged pallets, and cardboard boxes – transforming waste into energy and fertilisers to support production activities.
During its 30 years of presence in Vietnam, Unilever has continuously strived to improve people’s lives and boost sustainable development. Its products such as Lifebuoy, OMO, Sunsilk, and P/S have become familiar companions, contributing to improving the quality of life for families.
According to research from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, climate change is projected to inflict damage equivalent to 17 per cent of the global GDP by 2050, with losses estimated at $38 trillion annually.
In the context that Vietnam is facing serious environmental and social challenges, Unilever Vietnam considers long-term development as a core factor, but also realises this commitment through actions and bringing long-term value.
Since 2020, Unilever Vietnam has pioneered the construction of a plastic waste collection and recycling system, significantly contributing to reducing environmental pollution and shaping a waste-free future.
In 2022, Unilever Vietnam’s OMO brand cooperated with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in the Action for a Green Vietnam programme, committing to plant one million trees by the end of 2025, focusing on protective forests, national forests, schools and urban areas. Over 690,000 trees have been planted to date.
With a business philosophy associated with social responsibility, Unilever Vietnam has taken part in schemes to improve livelihoods through a series of community projects, from personal hygiene education and providing clean water to supporting economic development for women in difficult areas. These efforts have touched millions of people, helping to change not only living conditions but also raising public awareness about sustainability.
Along with contributing to environmental initiatives, Unilever also pays special attention to improving communities, especially women. Through the “Women do business” initiative in 2023, for example, the company has supported thousands of women across the country with startup training courses and practical capital sources, helping to promote gender equality.
In addition to social-oriented activities, Unilever Vietnam also promotes the working environment within the business with the philosophy of taking people as the core of business. In November 2024, the enterprise was named number one in the Top 100 Best Places to Work in Vietnam, according to Anphabe.
Looking to the future, Unilever Vietnam continues with its mission to lead the sustainable development journey with ambitious strategic priorities, demonstrating a strong commitment to climate, nature, and livelihoods.
On climate, Unilever is committed to achieving net-zero emissions across the entire value chain by 2039. To realise this goal, the company has been transitioning to using 100 per cent renewable energy in all production activities. In addition, Unilever is constantly looking for solutions to minimise water consumption, aiming to build more environmentally friendly factories. This is a commitment that does not stop at words but is implemented in practical actions, creating a lasting impact on the fight against climate change.
In the field of nature protection, Unilever clearly defines its role in regenerating and preserving agricultural and natural ecosystems. The company is committed to maintaining a sustainable supply source that meets production needs and supports local communities. Collaborative drives help increase economic value while protecting land and natural resources, building a future of harmony between people and the environment.
The plastic issue is also at the heart of Unilever’s strategy. Collecting and recycling more plastic than a company produces helps reduce the impact of plastic waste on the environment and contributes to building a circular economy, where resources are maximally reused.
Through intensive skills training programmes and comprehensive welfare policies, Unilever not only brings stability, but also inspires and strongly motivates the workforce.
Unilever’s efforts strengthen its pioneering role and inspire other businesses in combining economic development and environmental protection. These are important steps, demonstrating Unilever’s determination and deep responsibility on the journey to building a better future for everyone.

Unilever’s journey of more than 100 years of global development and nearly 30 years in the Vietnamese market has left impressive achievements in sustainable business, worthy of the position of top global sustainable development enterprise.

The active cooperation between Unilever and various recyclers and collectors regarding extended producer responsibility regulations has cemented its determination to promote the plastic economy and accelerate sustainable development.

The world is facing unprecedented challenges due to the global 'hot topic' of climate change. As key drivers of the economy, businesses like Unilever Vietnam are refusing to remain on the sidelines.
